Afrika-Award für Sylvaina Gerlich und IMIC e.V.
„Für ihr engagiertes soziales und länderübergreifendes Eintreten für Afrika“ wurde Sylvaina Gerlich mit dem „Cameroon Award 2017“ der Kategorie „Panafrikanisches Engagement“ am Sonnabend (02.12.17) ausgezeichnet. Sylvaina Gerlich ist seit dem Jahr 1999 für Afrika aktiv, seit 2010 mit dem Interkulturellen Migranten Integrations Center e.V. (IMIC e.V.). Mit dem gemeinnützigen Verein IMIC kümmert sie sich um Menschen der afrikanischen Community und herkunftsunabhängig um Migranten, die Hilfe brauchen, begleitet sie in der Kommunikation mit Behörden, Krankenhäusern und Rechtsanwälten, hilft Jugendlichen und Erwachsenen bei der Jobsuche, Familien-, Schul- allen anderen sozialen Problemen.
Darüber hinaus organisiert sie seit 2012 u.a. den mehrtätigen Africa Day, 2017 mit 15.000 Besuchern auf dem Wandsbek Marktplatz, sowie das Africa Day Investment und Business Forum. Sie ist u.a. seit 2008 Repräsentantin Afrikas im Integrationsbeirat des Hamburger Senats. Der Award wird verliehen von CECAM (Civil Engagement of Cameroonians), Organisatoren sind René Tenenjou und Ndago Simplice. Sylvaina Gerlich: „Ich habe mich sehr gefreut, das mit dem Award insbesondere das soziale Engagement von uns als IMIC-Team gewürdigt wird, das wir eher im Stillen und zu jeder Tages- und Nachtzeit für viele Menschen leisten. Danke an unser IMIC-Team, eure Unterstützung, den Award von CECAM und die Anerkennung hier, die bestätigt, wir Afrikaner müssen zusammenstehen, together we are one.“

"For her committed social and transnational advocacy for Africa" Sylvaina Gerlich was honored with the "Cameroon Award 2017" in the category "Pan-African commitment" on Saturday (02.12.17). Sylvaina Gerlich has been active in Africa since 1999, 2010 with the Intercultural Migrant Integration Center e.V. (IMIC e.V.). With the non-profit organization IMIC, which focuses on supporting descents from the African community in Germany diaspora regardless of their origin, fronts communication with German authorities, hospitals and lawyers on behalf of helpless migrants, helps young people and adults with job hunting, provides family, school support and handles conflict resolutions and other social issues.
Sylvaina Gerlich, has since 2012 organized AU day multi-day Africa Day. The 2017 Africa Day recorded 15,000 participants at the Wandsbek marketplace as well as the Africa Day Investment and Business Forum. Since 2008, she has held the office of Representative of Africa in the Integration Council of the Hamburg Senate. The award is presented by CECAM (Civil Engagement of Cameroonians), organized by René Tenenjou and Ndago Simplice.
