On behalf of the Migrant Parents’ Network Hamburg, Interkulturelles Migranten Integration Center e.V. (IMIC)
and the Federal Parents’ Network of Migrant Organizations for Education & Participation (bbt – Bundeselternnetzwerk
Bildung & Teilhhabe) organized a conference aimed at activating migrant parents from third world countries
highlighting the critical role these individuals play in their communities and the importance of engaging them in
socio-economic development. Attendees included educators, community leaders, policymakers, parents, guardians
and representatives from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) focused on migrant issues.
Discussions centered on empowering migrant parents through educational
initiatives that equip them with skills and knowledge to advocate for their children’s needs. The significance of understanding and
integrating diverse cultural backgrounds. Strategies for fostering inclusive environments in schools and communities were shared to
bridge gaps between migrant families and local populations.
The conference highlighted the creation of support networks among migrant parents.
Participants were encouraged to engage in local governance, promoting policies that address
their unique challenges and enhance their contributions to society. The conference underscored
the potential of migrant parents as vital community members and change agents. The event
concluded with a call to action for all stakeholders to collaborate in supporting these essential efforts.
